Hi, I’m Katie. As the mother of a child in the special education system, I’ve spent countless nights poring over the Internet, searching for answers to help my daughter reach her full potential. Even as an attorney, I struggled to find the information I needed. I would find something on a blog that contradicted other information on a message board. An Instagram post would fill me with hope, and then a Facebook Group would confirm my worst fears. I would buy special education advocacy books full of more fluff than facts.

Every IEP meeting I went to I would end up in tears, so frustrated that no matter how hard I tried to prepare, the school district seemed to be one step ahead of me, and my daughter was falling further and further behind.

Today, my daughter is thriving in the public school system. While challenges still lie ahead, I have a solid foundation of the special education system that I have honed over years of research & study.

My goal is to bring this information to parents and caretakers, who, like myself, just needed someone to lay everything out for them: top to bottom, beginning to end. I didn’t have the time or energy to find all the answers on my own, but I also didn’t have a place I could go to get answers, facts, studies, cases, ideas, laws & explanations in a way that I could learn, understand, and use to advocate for my daughter.
